Sandals and shorts in winter?

I live in Atlanta, which has mild winters compared to, say, Buffalo or Minneapolis, but no matter what the Chamber of Commerce says, it still gets pretty cold. Recently we had some raw, dank, chilly weather, and yet within four or five days, in different neighborhoods, I saw guys wearing shorts and sandals. (No socks.) The odd thing is that they were wearing jackets and hats in at least partial acknowledgment of the wintry weather. Is this some new trendy fashion statement I%26#039;m just finding out about? As I said, all the wearers of this look were guys. Is it some kind of macho statement: i.e., %26quot;I%26#039;m Spartan-tough!%26quot; ? It seems to me as boneheaded as wearing a baseball cap backwards. And in fact two of these latter-day Barabbases wore backwards baseball caps, which made me suspect this %26quot;neo-Spartan look%26quot; is some kind of mindless trendoid thing.

Sandals and shorts in winter?
That%26#039;s a trend I wish would disappear like popped collars.
Reply:Trendy or not, it looks ridiculous:)
Reply:I%26#039;m sorry, but it could simply be that those %26#039;men%26#039; were like my husband, who is %26#039;very warm%26#039; all the time, and feels quite comfortable in shorts and sandals year round ... although he usually wears socks and long pants when he goes out, because he%26#039;s a %26#039;very hairy beast%26#039; and doesn%26#039;t want to %26#039;scare people%26#039; with that. I actually LOVE IT ... even on the very %26#039;coldest%26#039; nights (17 degrees here one night this winter) because I can go to bed naked and use no blankets even on those nights, because my husband is a wonderful %26#039;non-electric%26#039; (and very cuddly) %26#039;space heater.%26#039;

I have to agree with you about wearing a %26#039;baseball cap%26#039; backwards, though ... or wearing them at all, except when going to a %26#039;game%26#039; ... my husband wears a %26#039;pie hat%26#039; (newsboys cap) because he%26#039;s %26#039;bald%26#039; ... and it LOOKS GREAT.
